Friday afternoon and a message appears on the Facebook page…

It’s my friend Bec, Co CEO of Bolinda Publishing.

“Hi Will can you shoot an event tomorrow” ?

As my camera gear is always kept in a constant state of readiness I replied with “YES FOR SURE”.

After a phone call to the client the event turns out to be a 90th birthday party for a lovely lady.

Upon arrival quick scope of the lighting conditions inside and out gave me the game plan as far as camera set up and shooting style.
The average aperture chosen for the day was 6.3 with a frame rate of 125th of a second.
Reason being for 6.3 and not a portrait style 2.8 is that there is nothing worse when taking group shots than having the person at the edge of the shot blurred because the depth of field is to shallow.

With people meeting in the gardens for drinks before the harsh midday sun was proving a challenge.
So where possible people where lined up under a bit of shade and then a touch of ETTL flash added to lighten the faces.

The interior setting was a tungsten ambient light mixed with the annoying multicolored “disco lights” that where hanging from the roof.
So an on camera bounce flash with a tungsten gels was chosen.
All images were cropped to 1.169 ratio, temperature corrected, exposure balanced, and some had many more treatments added.

This image had to have some exposure treatment and graduated filters added in order to look acceptable.

Overall 330 images were delivered to the client via the on line gallery.
Printing options and digital downloads all available with a click of a mouse.
At the end of the day everyone was happy 🙂
